Dysons prepared to power Victoria’s Green Bus Future

This significant milestone marks the beginning of a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable public transport system in Melbourne.

As part of the new contract, Dysons will introduce 168 new electric buses over the contract term and upgrade our Bundoora depot with advanced charging infrastructure. The depot will feature 81 dual EV Chargers powered by an 11.0 MVA grid connection, supporting our long-term transition to zero-emissions transport.

We’ve served the northern suburbs for more than 70 years, and while this next chapter introduces innovation and investment, our commitment to delivering reliable and community-focused service remains unchanged.

What’s Changing?

Under the new Metropolitan Zero Emissions Bus Franchise:

• Dysons will continue operating a large portion of services across Melbourne’s north and will commence operation of routes 343, 578, 579, 580, and 582.
  

• Introduce 168 new battery-electric buses over the contract term.
  

• Upgrade its Bundoora depot with 81 dual electric chargers and an 11 MVA grid connection

We are working closely with the Department of Transport and Planning to ensure a smooth transition, with no expected disruption to services during this period.
